Informant.com has put together a great article on how to improve your networking performance between your Xbox 360 and your Windows XP Media Center PC. "I had a surprisingly easy time connecting my Xbox 360 to my home network, and even adding Media Center Extender functionality proved to be a piece of cake. Still there are a few things to consider before attempting to add an Xbox 360 to your home network. Get Wired If you want guaranteed Xbox 360 network performance, wired networking is the way to go. Run a drop in your wall or string cables through the house to get a wired connection from your router to the Xbox 360. Having a 100Mbps wired network connection will ensure great gaming frame rates, fast download speeds from the Xbox Live Marketplace, and reduced likelihood of dropped frames for even the best-looking HD video served from a Media Center..." How to use Channel Guide 360 |

The channel guide we maintain here has two different types of listings. The simplest listing is a channel entry that describes the content and provides a link. You can simply click the link that is provided and you will start a download of the related video. Place the file into My Documents / My Videos and watch the video on your Xbox 360 or simply watch the video on your PC. You do not need to have an Xbox 360 to watch any of the videos here.
If you have an Xbox 360 that is properly connected you can place the video into My Documents / My Videos and watch the video you downloaded via Media Center on your Xbox. If you need to set up your Xbox 360 to your Windows XP Media Center PC you can click here for an article to help you get started with the process.
Right now there is a new trend with video on the internet that sprang from the Podcast effort. This effort has become known in the trades as 'videocasting' or IPTV. IPTV stands for Internet Protocol Television – or, put simply, video feeds that are made available using the same mechanisms Podcasts use—RSS links.

So you want to try out the Windows Media feature in your Xbox 360? While there is documentation around the Internet explaining this—we’re going to focus on the realities associated with using the Xbox 360 with a Windows Media PC.
First off—what cool things does connection to the PC provide for? Put simply this connection is the only way you are going to play video you download from the Internet without burning a DVD. You do not need to read further in this article if you just want to stream music or view pictures from your PC. You can do that easily probably without our assistance. No worries though—we plan on explaining that in another article.
This article will tell you what you need and how to connect your Windows XP Media 2005 PC to your Xbox 360 for the specific purpose of playing video that you either download from the channel guide or watching video that you recorded with your TV Tuner card and built in PVR software. As an additional benefit you can view pictures and music using this connection though honestly the experience is better using the built in tools in the Xbox 360.
