A revolution is before us all! Microsoft has released the amazing Xbox 360, and while you might think it is just for games—we are here to show you that it is much more than that! The Xbox 360 is Microsoft’s secret weapon for gaining a foothold in the pioneering field of Internet Television (IPTV).
What is IPTV? Put simply it is video content that is usually is used using an RSS feed mechanism. Often times these video files are called videocasts. The whole concept was made popular by Apple’s iPod and the trend to make audio available through RSS feeds—or what people popularly call PodCasts. Is the video free? Right now most of it is. Is the video streamed? No. The concept behind IPTV is that you will download the content to your PC. What does the Xbox 360 have to do with it? Well I don’t know about you—but I don’t care to watch full length television programs on my computer. Why should I? I invested in a HDTV and that is where my Xbox 360 is.
